ALICE & OLIVIA Spring 2013 Fashion video

butterfly

Take a look at some pictures and a few behind the scenes stills from the Alice & Olivia fashion film I directed out in New York back in December.  It was shot over a day in their showrooms in New York and features models Ksenia Vasylchenko, Georgiana Sarev and Tali Lennox modelling Bendet’s Spring collection. The designer Stacey Bendet also appears in a brief cameo role. The film combines live-action and cut-out animation, a giant cut out heart and dozens of black telephones!!;)

Music is “Overdose” by indie pop trio Little Daylight.

To view the video see link below. Hope you enjoy it!

BANG // MCS London

So as a lot of you are already aware Im a massive fan of the Spaghetti Western and the cowboy! At RCA I made a short animated western working with still images from a 70s comic book, the Lone Wolf and at the time I watched a number of Spaghetti Westerns. So when I came across this brilliant video Las Bandidas directed by Mathew Wilkinson featuring models Cara Delevigne, Clara Paget and Suki Waterhouse as cowgirls in a spaghetti western inspired short playful sketch for scrunchie brand MCS London I was super super excited.  I absolutely love the intentionally obvious green screen and the sampled tracks, backgrounds and music! Its perfect!

♥ Lorna Simpson

I love these collages, ‘Untitled (Ebony and Jet), 2012′ by African-American artist, photographer and video artist Lorna Simpson. I came across them on my visit to Frieze London in October. Always interested by headwear and collage myself these immediately drew my attention. I absolutely love the pops of water colour washes and gradients alongside the photographs.

IKEA cookbook

IKEA’s recipe book ‘Homemade is best’ is back – this time in motion! The photographer behind the Swedish retailer’s cookbook, Carl Kleiner, has teamed up with editor and animator Eric Severin and stylist Evelina Bratell to make a playfull nine-part video series. To see an example of cracking an egg go here

Homemade is best is a 140 page coffee-table recipe book, containing 30 classic Swedish baking recipes–everything from small biscuits to large cakes. For each recipe, there are two images: one of the ingredients and one of the finished item. I have to get myself a copy!

I have to go to the Christian Louboutin show at the Design Museum this week. Dying to see the exhibition finally especially the Dita von Teese hologram by Musion.  The hologram is projected onto a stage in the main exhibition room thats shaped like an upside-down shoe! The exhibition was designed by Hackney studio Household and includes a shadow theatre, fetish room with photographs by David Lynch and a recreation of Louboutin’s Paris studio.

Have a look at the making of the hologram here

DON’T MISS the private view of HARK at the Old Shoreditch Station in London on the 26th Jan!!!

My amazing friend Audrey Roger is colloborating with Andrew Macgregor and it looks like its going to brilliant. The duo are apparently creating paper landscapes of totem poles and shamanic stalactites woven together by an array of mirrors and lighting design. The focus of the project is a stop-motion animation film which I cant wait to see. Im sad to miss the private view but looking forward to seeing images.
